Good Deed:#54 By heart Surah Yasin

The Hadith mentioned by ‘Ataa bin Abi Rabaah (R.A.) states that the Prophet (S.A.W.) said: “Whosoever recites Surah Yasin in the early part of the day his needs will be fulfilled.” (Mishkaat, Page 189)

It is stated in Mirqaat, Sharah Mishkaat under the commentary of the above Hadith that ones worldly needs and the needs pertaining to the Deen and the Hereafter will be fulfilled. (Mirqaat, Sharah Mishkaat, Vol. 4, Page 681)

In light of the Shari’ah the day begins from Subhus Saadiq and ends at sunset. Therefore Surah Yasin can be read after the Fajr Salaah or after sunrise as both fall under the early part of the day as mentioned in the Hadith.

The Prophet (SalAllahu alayhi wasalam) said, ‘Whoever recites Yasin once Allah will record the reward of reciting the Qur’an ten times.’ [Maqal, Tirmidhi 2812/A & Dhahabi]

It has been reported by Aisha (radiAllahu anha) that the Prophet (SalAllahu alayhi wasalam) said that there is a surah in the Qur’an that intercedes for its reciter and forgive its listener. Know! It is Surah Yasin. It is called ‘Mu’amma’ in the Torah. It was enquired, what is Mu’amma? The Prophet (SalAllahu alayhi wasalam) said, ‘it embraces the person with the goodness of this world and removes the dismay of the Hereafter’ [Hashiya of Tafsir Jalalalayn , pg 368].

On the authority of Ma’qil ibn Yasar from the Prophet (SalAllahu alayhi wasalam) said, ‘Recite Yasin on your deceased’ [Abu Dawud, Nasa’I, Ibn Maja] [Imam Nawawi, Al-Tibyan li-Hamalati’l-Qur’an pg 168].

The Prophet said, ‘Whoever recited Surah Yasin in the night seeking Allah’s pleasure, Allah would forgive him’
[Ibn Hibban, Darimi 3283/A, Abu Yala, Tabarani, Baihaqi & Ibn Mardawaih]

Anas (radiAllahu anhu) reported that the messenger of Allah (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said ‘Everything has a heart and the heart of the Qur’an is Ya Sin. Anyone who reads it, God will write down for him ten readings of the Qur’an’ [at-Tirmidhi 2812/A & Dhahabi, Maqal]

Abu Hurairah (radiAllahu anhu) narrated that the messenger of Allah (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said, ‘Whoever reads surat Ya-Sin in the night, he will be forgiven. And whoever reads Ha-Meem, the one in which smoke is mentioned, he will be forgiven.’ [Abu Ya’la reported it]

Ma’qil Ibn Yasar (radiAllahu anhu) reported that the messenger of Allah (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said ‘Whoever reads Ya Sin, seeking Allah’s pleasure, his past sins will be forgiven, so recite it over the dying among you’
[Bayhaqi]

Ibn `Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) quoted the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as saying, “Reciting Ya-Sin at the beginning of the day makes the rest of the day easy for the person till night approaches. Also, reciting it with the approach of the night makes the rest of the night easy till the next day.”(Qurtubi)
